Nightmare Before Christmas Music Code

I've mentioned my undying love for film scores several times before. The intensity of this passion comes and goes, and right now it's taking over my head! A couple months ago, my BFF put me onto all the scores that are available on YouTube, and I created a playlist that I just can't get enough of! I listen to it all friggin day, whether it's actually playing or not. It just dances around in my mind, blocking out all other attempts to capture my attention. If you'd like a little taste of my drug, follow this link to my YouTube Film Scores Playlist! There's no way to know when a score is going to sweep you off your feet. The movie itself could be dumb as crap. But its MUSIC can still bring you to a state of euphoria! There are times when my reaction to this music is so strong, I find myself stopping to clutch my heart in an effort to keep it in my chest. There are over 80 different movies on my playlist, all with enchanting music that tells a story as clearly as the script it was written for. Here are a few of my favorites:
Slumdog Millionaire
A River Runs Through It
The Notebook
Jurassic Park
Penelope
Edward Scissorhands
Amelie
A Beautiful Mind
Big Fish
The Davinci Code
Memoirs of a Geisha
Much Ado About Nothing
Last of the Mohicans
Dances With Wolves
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Titanic
Stardust
Schindler's List
Love Actually
August Rush
Nanny McPhee
The Village
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Harry Potter. ALL of them!
The Last Samurai
The Jungle Book (1994)
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Finding Neverland
Forrest Gump
Road to Perdition
Meet Joe Black
Apollo 13
Treasure Planet
Deep Impact
The Cider House Rules
Life As A House
The Truman Show
Dead Poets Society
Good Will Hunting
Too often, many tracks on a movie soundtrack are not particularly listenable. They're written to go along with a scene in a movie, so they don't make much sense on their own. In such cases there are frequently one or two 'theme' tracks on the CD that will completely take your breath away. Here are some of my favorites that fit that description.
Batman Begins
King Kong
The Island
Blood Diamond
Star Wars
Gladiator
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Troy
Indiana Jones
American Beauty
Brokeback Mountain
Dragonheart
The Godfather
300
Alexander
Requiem for a Dream
Very rarely, a film score will come along with every single song being so melodic that it's just hypnotising.
Peter Pan (2003)
The Chronicles of Narnia
Legends of the Fall
Bliss
Braveheart
Kingdom of Heaven
Becoming Jane
Hook
Pride and Prejudice
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Lord of the Rings - Return of the King
Chocolat
I highly recommend any one of them to those of you who love the uplifting effect of orchestral music. I can't even tell you how many times this music has stopped me from snapping at my kids, or soothed my spirits so that I can attack my husband with kisses when he walks in the door, rather than with demands or complaints. I don't know what I would do without it.
Do you have a favorite film score that I don't know about? Do share!!! If not, what are your self-soothing techniques? We all have something...
